MY OWN WORDS

    Slam poetry is accessible poetry that you perform from the gut. There’s something raw about

       it when it’s good.

    I just go through my world with my head and my heart wide open so things jump in there. Even

       when I’m not writing, I’m writing. When I’m dancing at a party, I’m writing. When I’m

       baking cake, I’m writing. When I’m making love

       with my  husband, I’m writing. So there is that

       part of me that is always sucking up some part of

       life to see what to make of it.

    Slam poetry is about emotion, power. It’s about

       telling your truth… telling your poem out loud.

    I want people to connect. I want them to relive an

       experience. When you perform a poem with the

       passion that you had when you wrote it, you begin

       to feel the poem. I want my audience to hear and feel the poem.

    I love drawing the line between just talking with you and then all of a sudden - Wham! You're in

       the poem.
